It has been four years since Bella was changed, Renesmee was born, and the Cullen Family and their friends had their stand off with the Volturi. Life became mostly peaceful for the Cullens, remaining in Forks for a while longer, before moving onto live with their extended family, the Denali Coven.
Back in Fork, the La Push pack has settled down, many of the shapeshifters beginning to stop transforming altogether, the threat of any vampires long gone. With Jacob Black with the Cullens-and more importantly, his imprint Renesmee-in Alaska, leadership of the pack has fallen on Seth Clearwater's shoulders, after his older sister Leah and Sam Uley stopped shifting. But a potential new threat has appeared in Forks.
A pack of true werewolves, the Children of the Moon, have arrived in Forks. After hearing rumors of the Volturi's defeat-or at least, something to that affect-this particular group has become emboldened. They have banded together, in order to do one thing, rebel against and dethrone the Volturi. They are tired of being hunted, for no reason other than Caius's fear of them.
The shapeshifter pack, unable to decide if the Children of the Moon are a true threat to the people of Forks, have sent a messenger to Alaska, and the Cullens, the Denali Coven, and Jacob are all back in Forks. But to their surprise, the Children of the Moon aren't there to make trouble, at least not for the people of forks-they are there to seek the Cullens' help and support, though they wound up there four years too late to meet them.
The Volturi have already been humiliated by their defeat, and now plan to take vengeance on the Cullens and their allies. Will their involvement with the Children of the Moon give the Volturi the incentive they need to attack? Or will the Cullens distance themselves from the rebel pack to protect themselves and their friends?
