Appearance; Shallowsand's body is thin and agile; he has the build of a runner, not of a fighter. His coarse black pelt is thin but shaggy. Dark hazel eyes adorn his narrow face, along with large, pointed ears. A noticeable scar slashes horizontally across his face, and smaller ones cross the rest of his body.

Personality; Shallowsand keeps to himself, and nobody bothers to change that. He appears to be mysterious and unemotional, but beneath his hard outer shell there is burning cynicism, bitterness, and hatred. Although he has never really considered leaving the Clan his first loyalty is to himself. He is cruel and cunning, a liar and a thief. He does not believe in StarClan or the Dark Foret, but other than that he is the perfect cat for the Dark Forest residents to manipulate. With a grudge against the world and a burning desire for revenge and power, he will eagerly accept his father's training.

History; Shallowsand was born as a single kit, with no littermates. He was always kind of quiet, but was well cared for and happy for the first couple moons of his life, until his mother became pregnant again. When he was five moons old, the new kits came, but it went wrong. They came early, and out of the three kits, only one survived. Their mother died giving birth to them as well. She had never said who their father was. Thus Shallowkit was left alone, torn apart by grief, to care for his younger brother, who was named Talonkit. Shallowpaw became an apprentice shortly after the incident, and was apprenticed to a warrior called Thunderstrike. However, far from being a caring mentor, Thunderstrike had a cruel side kept hidden from most of his Clanmates. He used harsh methods, abuse, and fear to train his apprentice, and always did battle training with claws unsheathed. Shallowpaw dared not complain to another of his Clanmates. Meanwhile, Talonkit was growing up, proving to be noble and skilled and a future asset to the Clan. Everyone adored and sympathized with their young Clanmate, but paid no attention to his scrawny, unpleasant older brother. Instead of breaking down, however, Shallowpaw began to form a hard shell around himself, which strengthened as the moons passed and was accompanied by a bitter hatred of those who he felt had done him wrong. During his final assessment, when he was alone with Thunderstrike, he took the opportunity to push his mentor off the edge of the gorge. Shallowpaw was surprised by what he had done but felt no remorse, and told the Clan a tragic story about it being a terrible accident. He was given his warrior name, and his brother was given his five moons later. Not long after his brother's ceremony, there was a battle with ThunderClan. Talonpoint was gravely injured, but much to Shallowsand's displeasure, the stupid cat survived. Shallowsand has tried to learn all he could about deathberries and other poisons, but has done nothing yet to harm his brother.
